Thai Pongal is a four-day harvest festival is usually celebrated from January 14 to January 17 according to the Tamil Calendar. Thai Pongal is mainly celebrated to convey appreciation to the Sun God for a successful harvest. Part of the celebration is the boiling of the first rice of the season consecrated to the Sun.
The 2019 pongal celebrations will be a Tamil cultural festival for the children by the Heights at Westridge community and to raise funds for Bhumi, a Tamil Nadu based 501(c)3 charity for education
